Summary
Makeup for men is nothing new. In ancient Egypt, kings and pharaohs blackened their eyes with kohl to ward off evil spirits, and Native American tribes used body paint to prepare themselves psychologically for war. Up until the 1600s, it was common for Englishmen to powder their faces as well as adding a touch of rouge to their cheeks and lips.
Today, the male skincare industry is growing rapidly. Since launching War Paint in 2019, Danny’s mission has been to eliminate the stigma surrounding men wearing makeup and to help men feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance.
Author Biography
Danny Gray is the founder of War Paint For Men, the UK’s leading men’s makeup brand. Since launching War Paint, Danny’s mission has been to eliminate the stigma surrounding men wearing makeup and to help men feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance. After years of enduring verbal and physical abuse while at school, Danny was diagnosed with BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) when he was 14. It was then that he discovered applying makeup gave him a much needed confidence boost, but he felt awkward and embarrassed when approaching any makeup counter. So the seed, to create a makeup brand designed specifically for and targeted at men, was sown.
