Summary

Explores how art therapies, art in particular but also creative journaling and poetry writing, can be integrated into a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of eating disorders, in conjunction with medical programs. Discusses creative work and gives accounts of some 30 patients, examining their use of media, imagery, and symbolism.

Author Biography

Dr Susan R. Makin is an expressive arts therapist in private practice in Toronto. She is also a lecturer in Psychosomatics at the University of Toronto Department of Medicine and field faculty advisor at Vermont College of Norwich University.
