Summary

When eight-year-old Tuesday Storm's mother, Rose, plunges headfirst down a flight of stairs, it's the second worst thing that ever happens in Tuesday's life. The first? Rose survives the accident. Suddenly Rose is furious with Tuesday for some mysterious "bad thing" she's done. The doctor says Rose's aggression is due to a brain injury and only temporary. So the Storms do what any proud, Southern family would. They hide the problem, hoping it will go away. Meanwhile little Tuesday becomes the target of Rose's unrelenting hostility and twisted "punishments." In this based-on-a-true-story novel, a now-grown Tuesday recounts, with raw emotion, her sudden "loss" of a nurturing mother, and the tragic years to follow living with the monster in her mother's clothes--a monster she can't stop loving.
