Angola Under the Portuguese was originally published in 1978 by the University of California Press. Gerald Bender, a professor in the School of International Relations at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, examines the entire five-century-long relationship between the peoples of Angola and Portugal. Despite the myth that the Portuguese were able to establish and maintain egalitarian and non-discriminatory relationships with tropical peoples, Bender demonstrates that the Portuguese rule in Angola was deeply rascist.
