Lenn E. Goodman is Professor of Philosophy and Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Richard McGregor is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Islamic Studies at Vanderbilt University.
