Summary

Twenty dramatic stories of real-life bomber crew are told by Mel Rolfe, who has previously written stories about men in war in, To Hell and Back and Hell on Earth.

Rolfe interviews surviving members of crews from WWII and turns them into vivid accounts, taking the reader to the place and time in which they occurred. His stories demonstrate the amazing resilience of the human spirit and the unwavering courage of the men who helped to bomb the enemy into submission.

Author Biography

Mel Rolfe was brought up near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. An interest in aviation began at an early age, as he watched aircraft taking off and landing at nearby RAF Halton during the war. Briefly a clerk in insurance then a stockbroker in London, he turned to writing, working in national and local journalism, interrupted by nine summers running a small hotel in Cornwall. He is now dedicated to recording Bomber Command veterans' stories. He has lived in Lincolnshire - Bomber County - for fifteen years with his wife, Jessie
