The clever, cartoony black-and-white illustrations bring the story to life and offer many funny asides about the GF life. Paris tells what's it's like to have CD, what happens to her body when she eats gluten, and what life is like when you have to avoid gluten. She takes kids through aspects of preteen social life as a GF kid, offering helpful hints on what to bring to school, parties, and sleepovers and how to deal with eating out. Melissa London (author) and Eric Glickman (illustrator) based this book on their eldest daughter, Paris, who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease at age 11. Melissa and Eric both graduated from Syracuse University with Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Advertising Design. Melissa was formerly a Vice President, Associate Creative Director/ Art Director for a major advertising company. She and Eric live with their children in New York's Hudson River Valley.
