Author Biography

MARK PEEL is Associate Professor in the School of Historical Studies at Monash University, where he teaches Australian, Comparative and American History. His publications include Good Times, Hard Times: The Past and the Future in Elizabeth, which was short-listed for Non-Fiction in the 1995 Age Book of the Year Award and A Little History of Australia.
CHRISTINA TWOMEY is Associate Professor of History at Monash University, Australia. She has published widely on the cultural history of war, and is the author of Australia's Forgotten Prisoners: Civilians Interned by the Japanese in World War II and Deserted and Destitute: Motherhood, Wife Desertion and Colonial Welfare.
