Summary

Light art is a field in contemporary art that uses artificial light as its primary expressive tool. This volume examines how investigation into the chromatic values of light has been carried out throughout the history of art from its very beginning until its most recent developments. The book features an interview with James Turrell, the American artist unanimously considered the greatest master of light art. The second section is devoted to the Targetti Light Art Collection, one of the world's most prestigious collections of artificial light. The images and descriptions of each work are accompanied by critical texts on the artists. The book includes works by artists such as Olafur Eliasson, Gilberto Zorio, Anne and Patrick Poirier, Fabrizio Plessi and Hidetoshi Nagasawa, as well as emerging talents.
