Author Biography

As co-founder and CEO of Dissertation Editor, Dr. Allen Roda has engaged with thousands of doctoral students in every field of higher education from chemistry, economics, and history to nursing, business, and education. He and his team of PhD editors and statisticians have worked with over 3,500 graduates from over 500 different universities with everything from research assistance, statistical analysis, qualitative analysis, and editing in all major styles (APA, Chicago, Bluebook, MLA, etc.) to defense preparation, dissertation-to-book conversion, and preparing journal articles for publication. 

Dr. Roda earned a bachelor’s in anthropology from Wake Forest University, a master’s in anthropology from Columbia University, and a PhD in ethnomusicology at NYU. Afterward, he held the prestigious Jane and Morgan Whitney Curatorial Fellowship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and was a professor at The New School and NYU. His peer-reviewed publications have won several awards including the Frances Densmore and Klaus Wachsmann prizes from the American Musical Instrument Society and Society for Ethnomusicology. He lives in North Carolina with his wife and two sons.

Dr. Lauren Saunders is the vice president of editing and research for Dissertation Editor, having been with the company since 2017 in roles including freelance editor, in-house editor, and managing editor. She earned bachelor’s degrees in dance and creative writing from Chapman University, a master’s in Irish literature from Trinity College, Dublin, and a doctorate in literary studies from the University of Denver. Throughout her studies, she worked at university writing centers helping other students cultivate good writing habits and skills. She lives in Colorado with her husband and daughter.
