bought this textbook for my college class and found it to be easy to read and very informative. The book arrived in perfect condition although purchased used. This textbook is good on many chapters specially on development and psychopathology. It reviews development of theory and then presents an overview of various nursing grand and middle range theories, followed by theories from biological, behavioral, education, management, and sociology that are useful and applicable to nursing.
Highly recommended.

Theoretical Basis for Nursing: 4 out of 5 stars based on 1 user reviews.

Summary

Designed for one of the core courses taught in all graduate nursing programs, this text is the most contemporary, concise, and readable nursing theory textbook on the market. It presents historical perspectives on the development of nursing theory, assessments of concept and theory development and theory evaluation, middle-range theories, and shared theories from other disciplines in the sociologic, behavioral, and biomedical sciences, focusing on the application of theory.

Theoretical Basis for Nursing is a great textbook as a quick review and by using this book as your sole review source you could probably answer many questions of the test. Information is presented in a clear and concise fashion with good graphs and charts. Learning features found throughout the text include case studies and end-of-chapter summaries that help to reinforce essential concepts.
