Summary

Tom Thomson 2009 celebrates the work of one of Canada's best-loved artists with art-quality reproductions. Born in 1877, Tom Thomson grew up in Ontario near the shores of Georgian Bay. In 1912, he made the first of many trips to Algonquin Park, the setting of his great paintings and the place where he died in a tragic canoe accident five years later. Thomson's magnificent legacy is revealed through the changing moods and seasonal colors of his paintings. The intensity and passion with which he painted perfectly capture Canada's northern wilderness. These compelling landscapes provide a visual feast and demonstrate how one remarkable artist helped to define the way Canadians see their land.
