Summary

The third edition of this well-accepted book continues to balance theory and application. The book has provided coverage to individual, group and organizational aspect of OB. Readers would find it useful for the diverse areas covered. Human behaviour in the times of change has been its focus in relevant sections. This edition includes one new chapter on the foundations of individual behaviour. All the chapters have been revised and updated to include more organizational examples. The revised edition includes new sections on employee retention, employee productivity, talent management, quality, FIRO-B, transactional analysis (TA), reinforcement and modification of managerial behaviour, and theory X and Y. Group behaviour has been given a renewed focus by the inclusion of sections on types and development of groups, group norms, and decentralization. Additional figures and tables have been included to facilitate better understanding of the theory. Self-assessment tests (STA) have been included within the chapters in this edition. STA is a tool designed to aid students in applying the theory explained in the chapter.

Author Biography



The late Udai Pareek was the Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur. He was earlier L&T Professor of Organizational Behaviour, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Sushama Khanna is the Dean and Director (Outreach), Udai Pareek HR-LABS, EMPI Business School, New Delhi. She has over fifteen years of experience in teaching, training, and research in various areas of organizational behaviour.
